Oakmere Friday News

Date: 8th Oct 2021 @ 3:26pm

Good afternoon,

What a fabulous week again! The weather has improved which is always a bonus and we were again able to enjoy games outside this afternoon - which was a much needed release after a busy week.

This week has brought more writing for Oakmere, the children have shown courage and determination in thriving for the best that they can do. We are so proud of the longer pieces of work they have written in Literacy, they have shown such confidence in their abilities, we are very proud of them for excepting these challenges. Some children are starting to use paragraphs to organise their work, and this is a big Year 3 objective.

In Maths, we have looked at scales, which has proved a trickier topic but the children have once more tried their hardest and we are proud of their courage.

Our science has been great fun, we got to explore a human skeleton and learn about vertebrate and invertebrate animals – this was enjoyed by all.

This week, we have become courageous advocates, learning about what plastic does to the environment and the oceans and at Over St John’s, we are determined to help.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your generous donations for our local food bank, we have collected a huge amount of items.

The Oakmere team.
