Oakmere World Maths Day

Date: 6th May 2021 @ 10:55am

Yesterday, 5th May, was World Maths Day and Oakmere enjoyed a day full of different Maths activities all related to shape!

We were quizzed on our knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes (which was rather good by the way!)and played guess who games using this knowledge in the morning. Then, after some quick times tables, we enjoyed learning about MC Escher, an artist who used tessellations to produce some fascinating artwork. We had a go at this ourselves and there were some amazing results which are now proudly displayed around our Maths working wall. Finally, we had to use our skills of teamwork, patience and perseverance as we took on the spaghetti and marshmallow challenge! We had some pictures of various nets for 3D shapes and had to use spaghetti as the edges and marshmallows for vertices. It was VERY fiddly and not an easy task, but I was so proud of all the children for giving it a good go!
