Oakmere's blog - 18.05.2018

Date: 20th May 2018 @ 2:45pm

We have been exploring and learning about the lifecycle of a Poison Dart Frog this week to help us to write our own explanation texts next week. We have also explored using cause and effect conjunctions to explain why things happen. The children produced some excellent lifecycle maps which included key information about the frogs. These will be very handy next week with our writing.

We have continued to explore the relationship between fractions and decimals this week and on Friday applied everything that we have learnt about fractions and decimals to solving word problems. I was very impressed with how the children approached and tackled these questions. Well done Oakmere!

Once again we have enjoyed using the atlases to help us locate the countries and capital cities of South America and then to label them on a map. Our atlas and map skills are improving all the time and we also discussed the importance of a key when labelling maps. Next week we shall be learning about the 8 eight compass. Does anyone know any rhymes that may help us to remember the compass points?

Remember it is our class trip to Tatton Park on Monday. Please make sure you are in full uniform with your lunch in a named, disposable bag. Sun hats and sun cream are essential.

See you in the morning.
