Oakmere's first week back

What a great first week back we have had in Oakmere. The children have come back to school with a lovely enthusiasm for learning, which I love!  We have continued to work hard on our fraction knowledge this week and I was very impressed with how much the children had remembered from before the half term.

On Tuesday we took part in a Pokemon Go! workshop in the afternoon,  which was delivered by the Big Heritage. The children explored google maps, 2 figure grid references and different OS maps of Winsford from oer the years. The children had great discussions about how Winsford had changed over time. We all had such a fun time and learnt lots of really interesting things. The grid reference work will help when we start our Journey through the Amazon topic.

In Science we completed our forces and magnets topic this week. We learnt about how magnets have 2 poles - a north pole and a south pole. We also observed how magnets attract and repel each other depending on which way the poles are facing.
