Oakmere's Maths Day

Date: 24th Jun 2018 @ 2:24pm

What a wonderful day we have had in Oakmere! The morning began with exploring and learning about co-ordinates and finding and placing items on to a pirate’s treasure map. We then moved on to using our new found knowledge of co-ordinates to help us to learn about 4 and 6 figure gird references in geography. We had to use either the 4 or 6 figure grid references to help find or place items on a map of South America.

In the afternoon we used co-ordinates to help find a robber in a ‘Cops and Robbers’ game. Each time we played we beat our score which we were very pleased about. We then moved on to a reasoning challenge. The children were keen to discuss their ideas and why they thought what they did. The afternoon was finished off with a visit from some of our parents.

Here is the link to the Cops and Robbers game we played if you would like to play it at home.
