Oakmere's Weekly Blog - 13.5.22

Date: 13th May 2022 @ 8:35pm

Somehow we have reached the end of another busy and very productive week in Oakmere! We have been really pleased with the way all the children have been shining their lights brightly this week; working hard, listening well and thinking of others.

We continued our learning about blue whales in our English lessons with a focus on finding out more about how they eat and using adverbs to construct our sentences in different ways.

Fractions, fractions and more fractions in Maths! This week Year 3 have learnt about finding fractions of an amount (would you rather have 1/3 of £24 or 3/4 of £12?) while Year 4 have explored tenths and hundredths. Well done to you all for rising to the challenge!

Finally, I would just like to take the opportunity to tell you all how amazingly well the Year 3 children have done in their swimming lessons. In just 4 lessons the progress they have made is just wonderful. It has been so difficult for families to get our swimming over the last couple of years and even harder to find availability in swimming lessons, so we feel very lucky to have had these 4 weeks in the pool. Apologies if your child is now nagging you to go swimming at the weekends (!) but this is the ideal time for them to keep practising what they have learnt and, more importantly, keep their water confidence up! Well done Year 3 - we are so proud of each and every one of you.

Happy weekend everyone and enjoy the sunshine.
