Our week 30th April - Linmere

Date: 5th May 2018 @ 10:50pm

This week started off with a boat race and ended with a "street" party.

At the beginning of the week the children used the plastic bottles they had collected to design and make boats. They later took them out on the water to test them. We had a great day watching them and cheering on each others boats.

In maths we have been looking at decimals and how to divide numbers by 10 and 100. Towards the end of the week we tested our mathematical knowledge by solving word problems involving decimals.

There was plenty of drama - of the acting kind - in English this week. We began looking at our new text "The Hunter". The children took on the roles of Jamina and her Grandfather and explored the role of a hunter. They then went on to produce some wonderful speech sandwiches full of interesting word choices and descriptive language - well done Linmere.

We ended our topic - The Battle of Britain - with a VE Day party. Thank you all for your contributions. The children enjoyed tucking in to the wartime treats of spam sandwiches, sausage rolls, jelly and other goodies. During the party we listened to and sang wartime songs, played games including musical statues and beetle, had a quiz and even received a certificate from the king!

Enjoy your extra day at home and the warm weather this weekend.

See you next week.
