Our week 6th November

Date: 13th Nov 2017 @ 1:53pm

Welcome back!

It may only have been a short week but it was a busy one.

In English we began our new unit of work by studying a poem called Acorns. This theme of acorns crossed over to the book we will be focusing on this half term - The Promise. This week the children had use their own imaginations and predict what the book would be about simply by looking at the cover. They had some amazing and really thought outside the box - well done Linmere!

Our maths work centred on the 6 and 7 times tables. The children were really challenged this week to use mathematical language to explain their reasoning and they are now beginning to give (and write) more detailed explanations.

We also began a new branch of our topic work - volcanoes. We started off looking at the different layers of the earth and how volcanoes are formed. We then went on to locate where in the world we find both active and dormant volcanoes.

As Remembrance Sunday was at the end of the week we also spent some time thinking about what Remembrance Sunday was all about.

Have a good weekend!
