Our week in Oakmere 10.10.20

Date: 10th Oct 2020 @ 2:04pm

It’s been a wet but busy week in Oakmere. We started a new text in English – The Minpins by Roald Dahl. So far we have made predictions about the story, written setting descriptions and thought about how the main character would be feeling at different points in the story.

In maths we are now looking at addition and subtraction. The children have worked hard to identify multiples of 10 and then add and subtract them from given numbers. The children in y4 have taken this a step further and looked at adding and subtracting ones, tens, hundreds and thousands from given numbers.

As you know we celebrated world mental health day in school on Friday. In class we discussed what mental health was and how it was something we all had in common. We looked at all the similarities and differences and focused on the line “the same but different”. The children were surprised to find some of the things they had in common with each other.

Despite the weather we did manage to go out for PE and the children began working in groups to invent their new games. Next week, weather permitting, they will teach their game to another group.

Hope you all manage to stay dry and enjoy the weekend.
