Our week in Oakmere 18.09.20

Date: 20th Sep 2020 @ 3:27pm

What a lovely week it’s been – the sun has been shining and we’ve had a great week in Oakmere.

We have continued to use the book Count on Katherine to help us with our English work. This week the children carried out some research and then wrote their own fact files about moon landings as well as writing a description of the explosion experienced by the astronauts onboard Apollo 13.

In maths we are still working on place value and used our knowledge to help us find numbers that were 1,10,100 (or 1,000 for year 4) more or less than any given number.

As part of our topic work this week we created timelines of the Mayan period and started making our own little worry dolls. The children also listened to another song which they may like to learn at home – here’s the link for those who want to sing along! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6BE4VcYngQ

Thankfully, we’ve been able to go outside for our PE slots and have enjoyed sessions around increasing our fitness and improving our running techniques. Next week the children will also be taking part in a skipping workshop which sounds very exciting.

Don’t forget reading books are only changed on a Friday so please remember to bring books and reading diaries in then. Spellings will be given out on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday.

We hope you’ve all had a good weekend and have managed to enjoy the sunshine.
