Sandymere Learning Update 22.6.17

Date: 22nd Jun 2017 @ 3:32pm

What a wonderful week we have had!

This week we have focussed our attentions on our ‘Into the forest’ topic. We have looked at the differences between deciduous and evergreen trees. The children have produced some stunning watercolour paintings of evergreen trees and really got to grips with blending colours together for creative effect. We continued the theme of forest by looking at the changes of a deciduous tree throughout the four seasons.

We had a fabulous time at Delamere Forest on Wednesday (see BLOG) and used our knowledge and understanding of forests learnt in the classroom and put it into practise outdoors. A massive SHOUT OUT to Lily and Scarlett’s mums for joining us on the trip. Thank you Mums!

Also this week we have voted at the School Council Project elections. Each child entered the specially created polling station and placed their vote on a ballot slip. More news to follow with the results.

Mrs Jones has been completing rainforest animals today with the children and there are some fabulous parrots popping up around the classroom alongside some rainforest collages. Do pop in and take a peek!

Mrs Jones leaves us on Friday as Mrs Winder is returning from her maternity leave. I’m sure you will join me in saying what a wonderful teacher she is and she will be sorely missed by all. (I’m sure she’ll be back again somewhere within the school family though!)

Until next week – have fun!

P.S DON’T FORGET TO SEND YOUR EMPTY JARS AND LIDS INTO SCHOOL.
