Sandymere Update 26.9.20
Date: 26th Sep 2020 @ 7:52am
It was certainly a cooler end to the week and coats were needed for our outside time. Please make sure you send your child with a coat everyday so that we can enjoy the fresh air whatever the weather.
We have finished reading Look Up in our English lessons. All the children have re-told the story and written it in their books. I am so proud of them.
In maths we have been comparing numbers using the following words and symbols - more, greater, >, most, less, least, <, fewer, same, equal, =. All the adults in Sandymere have been so impressed with how well everyone uses these words and symbols.
Our geography work looked at aerial views again. This week I set them the challenge of making a plan/map of our classroom. Children used all sorts of things from our indoor and outdoor classroom to make these maps. Perhaps they could make a map/plan of a room in their house. If the children continue their learning at home we would always love to see what they have been doing. This can be shared via our class email sandymere@overstjohns.cheshire.such.uk Please only use this email for sharing learning. All other emails are to still go to the admin email, thank you.
I have had a couple of questions about the guided reading stamp in reading diaries. Guided reading is where we look at a books as a whole class. I ask lots of questions about the book, we talk about the book and then we usually do an independent activity following our discussions.
I listen to all the children read individually at least once a week. I keep records of this at school. I am more than happy to send a copy of this at any point. Just let me know.
More information about reading can be found on our class page http://www.overstjohns.cheshire.sch.uk/page/reading-at-home/80820
We were all very tired by Friday, we have learnt so much this week. Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday.
