Sandymere's Class Blog 10.10.25
Date: 10th Oct 2025 @ 11:49am
We've had a fantastic week in Sandymere, full of exciting learning across all subjects!
🔬 Science – Properties of Materials
This week, we explored the properties of different materials. The children learned new scientific vocabulary and enjoyed investigating how materials can be described and used.
âž• Maths – Comparing and Ordering Numbers
In maths, we used number lines to help us compare and order numbers. The children practised identifying which numbers are greater or smaller and placing them correctly on the line.
📚 English – Drawing Club: The Night Pirates by Peter Harris
Our Drawing Club book this week was The Night Pirates. The children designed their own pirate ships, imagined the treasures they would keep in their treasure chests and focused on the main characters in the story.
Our writing focus was on using capital letters and full stops correctly in sentences.
🎨 Art – Spirals in Nature
We looked closely at spirals in nature, especially in shells. The children observed the patterns and then drew their own spiral designs using pencil and water-soluble pens. We experimented by adding water to the pen drawings to see what would happen! Some children will be completing this activity next week if they didn’t get a chance this week.
📖 Reading Reminder
Please remember to send reading folders in every Monday so that books can be changed. Books are only changed on Mondays, so it’s really important that your child has their folder and books with them.
🎵 Rhyme/Song of the Week
Our rhyme/song of the week has been: When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears - BBC Teach
Thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning. We’ve had a brilliant week and are looking forward to more exciting activities next week. Have a lovely weekend!
