Sandymere’s Class Blog 13.9.24
Date: 15th Sep 2024 @ 8:27am
Another fun filled week in Sandymere with lots of learning along the way.
This week we have:
- enjoyed a book called 'Are the Dinosaurs Dead, Dad?'. We have been so pleased with the amazing writing and wonderful imaginations in our Drawign Club sessions. This is the name for our English lessons until October half term.
- counted different object to 10 and learnt how to represent numbers using counter and cubes on a tens frame.
- started a new subject called Geogrpahy. Our first unit is all about weather and climate. We have begun by learning the months of the year and the seasons in which they belong. Next lesson we will be looking at the weather in different months and seasons.
- we had a creative end to the week in RE. We used clay to make our own creations as we learn about how God created the world. Ask your child what they created form their ball of clay.
Reading Our new online reading diary starts on Monday. We will be sending home two reading books every Monday for your child to read to you across the week. There will be an information sheet in your child's reading folder about how to support your child with reading at home. This can also be found on our class page on the school website.
The books that come home at first are based on the phonics assessments we have been doing in school this week. They will be focussed on a sound that your child was not yet confident with. As we move through our reading routine in school, the books will be linked to current learning in our phonics sessions.
Getting change for PE. The children are all doing really well in our PE lessons but it is taking some of us a while to get changed. A polite request to ask your child to be as independent as possible when putting their uniform on at home. This will make things easier and quicker for them in school.
See you on Monday,
Team Sandymere.
