Sandymere’s Class Blog 15.3.24
Date: 14th Mar 2024 @ 7:49pm
We have been working hard and rising to the challenges during our learning activities this week.
It is Science week this week with the theme of time. In Sandymere we played games that helped us to learn about the life cycle of frogs and butterflies. We learnt that some animals go through metamorphosis as part of their life cycle but others don't. We found out that mammals are a group of animals that do not go through metamorphosis. We then compared the time scale of differnt life cycles.
We are in the middle of writing our own stories based on the Lion Inside. Story writing can be a difficult challenge but everyone is working really hard and trying their best to include all the elements that we have been learning about.
In guided reading, we are focussing on our comprehension skills, we ask the children questions and they have to show where the answer is in the story. All the questions at the moment at retrieval questions but we will soon be moving on to try answering inference questions. Please support your child with this by asking them the questions in the back of their Monster Phonics reading book
It has been lovely to hear that some families have been and joined Winsford Library after we visited there last week. It's a great place for children to get new books to read without it costing any money.
With only two weeks to go, we have started rehearsing a poem for the Easter Service. Please see Mrs Snowdon's blog for details of date and time of the service
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
Team Sandymere.
