A lovely sunny day to end a wonderful week in school.
The highlight of the week was a visit from Bookstart Bear and his two helpers. We had great fun joining in with a story about a crocodile. To make it even more fun, we each got to hold a toy crocodile and act out parts of the story. Lots of the children really enjoyed the story so here is the title and author if you would like to read it again at home. If I had a crocodile by Gabby Dawnay and Alex Barrow. There is a series of these books, each one with a different animal.
What else have we been learning about this week?
- In maths, we have begun learning about numbers to 20. We can all count forwards and backwards quite confidently. However, recognising that the number 11-20 are made up on tens and ones is more of a challenge. We will be continuing with this learning next week.
- The children are doing really well in their Guided Reading sessions and are becoming relatively confident with the book by the end of the week. Hopefully you can hear this for yourself when you are reading with your child at home.
- In geography, we talked about different types of weather we have in the UK. We watched video clips and had to use the clues to identify the type of weather.
- In gymnastics this week, the children were crating balancing whilst on a bench. Some very impressive skills on display.
- In English this week we have been reading The Giant Jam Sandwich by John Vernon Lord. We have been using our imagination to think of other ways to trap four million wasps. Our focus all week has been writing sentences that can be read by others.
Have a wonderful weekend.
