Sandymere

November already! The weather has started to cool this week so please make sure your child always has their coat with them. We will continue to do PE outside on a Friday so you might want to send plain black leggings or joggers instead of shorts.

What have we been up to this week?

English - we started a new book called Nibbles the Book Monster. We have found out that he is a very naughty monster and has nibbled his way into things in our classroom! We created wanted posters to help track him down.

Maths - we have been learning about subtraction this week with numbers to 10. Children are rising to the challenge and developing their confidence with this skill.

Geography - in Year 1 we learn about changes in the local environment. This links perfectly with the work on the field. We visited the field on Thursday to allow us to make predictions about what is happening. We were so excited to look at a map of what the field is going to look like. We explored the map using the key to help us identify the different parts.

Art - the children looked at pumpkins and leaves in their art this week. They have brought their work home to share with you.

Our other lessons this week have been PE, Phonics, Handwriting, Number Work and Science.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Bettley.
