What a brilliant start to the New Year!
We’ve had a fantastic first week back and it’s been so lovely to see all the children return with such energy and enthusiasm. The classroom has been buzzing with ideas, laughter, and a real sense of purpose as we dive into an exciting new term.
In English, we’ve launched into an epic adventure inspired by Beowulf. The children have begun planning their own heroic tales, drawing on everything they’ve learned so far to craft stories full of brave characters, fearsome beasts, and thrilling quests. We can’t wait to see the masterpieces they create!
In maths, we’ve continued to build confidence with long multiplication. The children have shown real resilience, applying their knowledge to tackle some tricky reasoning problems with determination and growing independence. Next up: division! Wish us luck as we take on this next challenge. Strong times tables knowledge will be a huge help, so any extra practice at home will go a long way. We are also continuing our Number Sense practice in school to support the children's recall of the facts.
In Science, we are beginning our next topic of Earth and Space. We have been learning all about 'The Space Age' and 'A view of the Solar System'. We are excited to develop our knowledge and understanding of 'Space' further.
In History, we are learning all about the Ancient Greeks and will be answering "Can we thank the Ancient Greeks for anything in our lives today?"
This week, we have been learning about the 'key events' and we are also finding out about who the Ancient Greeks were and what they stood for.
In Religious Education, we have begun are new topic on the 5 Pillars of Islam. Throughout the upcoming weeks, we will have decisions and tasks for the children to further their understanding of the Islamic faith.
We’ve also taken some time to reflect and look ahead by setting our personal goals for 2026. From learning new skills to being kinder friends, the children have come up with some thoughtful and inspiring targets. Let’s hope we can all stick to them!
Here’s to a term full of learning, laughter, and growth. Thank you for your continued support as always. We’re so proud of how the children have started the year!
