Well done Delamere! - Week 1

Date: 5th Sep 2020 @ 9:00am

What a fantastic first week back! It has been so lovely to see everyone this week looking so happy and excited to start our new adventure in Year 2 together! How lucky we are as teachers to get to spend another year working with you and watching you all continue to grow.

The children have all made a great start and have tried really hard to follow the new routines and safety measures in a very postivie and grown up way. This week we have been learning about our new Christian Value, Compassion. We started by thinking about kind words that we can use and each child was given a strip pf paper with the name of one of their Delamere friends on. They then had to think of something kind that they could say about this person. Once we had completed them, we took turns to share the kind words with our friends in a chain of kindess and it was very heart warming to see how happy the children were to both give and receive their kind words. See below for some examples and a picture of our paper chain of kindness displayed in our Reflection Area.

We also began to explore the beautiful book 'I am Love', a book about compassion. We used it to inspire our art work, with hearts bursting full of compassion. They were really beautiful and each one was unique as the children added their own little twist on the design idea. Well done everyone!

In Maths the children have been practising reading and writing number words, matching number words to numbers, finding number words in word searches and making number words using lego.

Some information about reading books has been added to our class page, so if you haven't already done so please do take some time to read through it.

Thank you once again for all of your support, the children have come back happy, healthy and ready to learn.

We hope that you have a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing you again next week.
