World Book Day in Oakmere

Date: 2nd Mar 2023 @ 3:43pm

Good Afternoon,

As today was World Book Day, and about dragons, we had a day full of activities writing, drawing, observing different dragons, and having some good discussions about the differences.

The children all wrote an Acrostic poem about dragons, and about our book, 'Big Panda and Tiny Dragon'. The book spoke about friendships and relationships between the Panda and Dragon, and the children were then tasked with writing a poem based on the feelings/emotions, and the importance of having friends, in the book. Every child wrote a lovely poem.

Later this afternoon, the children then had an opportunity to draw what they had brought into school, or have a go at drawing a Dragon step by step from the board. There were loads of amazing drawings with lots of detail. They also got a chance to look at other children's items they brought in, whilst getting to look at some real animal skin where they got to identify characteristics of a dragon. They have all been asked to find one or two facts on Dragons at home, and bring them into the classroom to share with the rest of the class.

Finally, they have been practising some sign language, which was challenging for all of us, but came with a lot of fun.

The Oakmere team.
