🌟 Welcome to Blakemere Class! 🌟

Hello and welcome to our very first class blog of the new academic year!

This blog will be a place for us to share what we have been learning as a class, celebrate achievements and successes, and provide a few gentle reminders to help keep everyone up to date. I hope you enjoy reading about our learning journey throughout the year.

What a lovely first week it has been getting to know my new class! It has been wonderful to see some familiar faces from last year alongside some new faces joining us. A very warm welcome to everyone. The children have settled in beautifully and have already begun to let their lights shine through their kindness, enthusiasm and positive attitudes towards learning.

🌟 Let Your Light Shine Before Others 🌟

This week, we have spent time getting to know one another whilst learning about our new routines and expectations in Blakemere Class. We explored how being Ready, Respectful and Safe helps us to learn, grow and support those around us. By showing kindness, listening carefully and making positive choices, we can all let our light shine before others each day.

📝 English

In English, we wrote our own "I Am" poems, sharing information about ourselves and celebrating what makes each of us unique. The children used ambitious vocabulary to create some fantastic poems, which will form part of our classroom display. It has been wonderful to see the children letting their lights shine by confidently sharing their ideas and personalities.

✝️ Christian Values

We explored our class Christian value of Hope and discussed what hope means to Christians. Through our learning, we discovered several symbols that represent hope.

💡 Ask your child if they can tell you one of the symbols we learned about!

🪟 As part of our spirituality journey, this learning acted as a window into the beliefs of others, while also encouraging us to use our mirrors to reflect on what gives us hope in our own lives.

📚 Reading

The children wrote book recommendations for their classmates, sharing stories they have enjoyed and encouraging others to discover new books. This was a wonderful way of letting their light shine by helping and inspiring others.

British Values

We also explored the British Values and discussed how we can live these out both in school and within our wider community. This opened a door to thinking about how our choices can positively impact those around us and how we can be responsible and respectful citizens.
