🌟 Class Blog – Our Learning This Week!

We’ve had a productive week filled with creativity, curiosity and some fantastic learning across all subjects!

✏️ English

This week, we continued exploring King Kong. The children stepped into the role of Ann and wrote diary entries describing how her life changed after meeting Carl. Their writing was full of emotion, detail and thoughtful reflections.

We also created speech sandwiches—thinking carefully about what each character said and the actions happening around the dialogue. Towards the end of the week, we focused on improving our descriptive writing by creating precise noun phrases and fronted adverbials. The children were excellent at explaining which sentences were more effective and why. Such brilliant progress!

Maths

In Maths, we began our new topic: Angles.
We recapped the different types of angles and learned how to use a protractor with accuracy and confidence. The children measured angles, drew their own, and then applied this knowledge to find missing angles on a straight line. Great focus and perseverance from everyone!

🏺 History

Our work on the Nantwich salt industry continued this week. We explored key events from its fascinating history and plotted them on a timeline. The children used the dates carefully to ensure everything was placed accurately—excellent chronological thinking!

🔬 Science

In Science, we investigated materials that are soluble and insoluble. The children mixed different substances into water, tested their ideas, and made clear observations about which materials dissolved and which did not. Lots of great scientific thinking and teamwork.

💻 Computing

This week in Computing, we explored databases. The children have enjoyed learning how information can be organised, stored and searched digitally. They were looking at creating branching databases this week.
