🌟 Weekly Blog 🌟
This week, we have traimed to live out our vision of “letting your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16). Even in the challenges of the heat, the children have shown resilience, kindness, and determination to keep learning and supporting one another—well done to everyone for such a fantastic effort.
We have taken things a little slower to stay comfortable, but this has not stopped the class from shining brightly in all that they have done.
In English, we explored poetry and wrote imaginative list poems about tigers. The children used ambitious and effective vocabulary to bring their writing to life—there were some wonderfully vivid descriptions that really captured the power and beauty of these amazing animals.
In Maths, we investigated 3D shapes and their matching nets. The children showed great curiosity as they explored how shapes can be constructed and unfolded, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills along the way.
Our DT learning focused on understanding how food is processed—from field to fork. The children were fascinated by the journey food takes before it reaches our plates, and they asked thoughtful questions about where food comes from and how it is prepared.
Although Sports Day did not go ahead in the afternoon on Tuesday, we embraced the morning with a range of wellbeing activities. Our energy during Just Dance was fantastic—it was wonderful to see everyone taking part with such enthusiasm and joy!
On Wednesday, we marked Blue Day, which gave us a wonderful opportunity to look out into the wider world—almost like looking through a window at the amazing oceans God has created. We reflected on the beauty and importance of our oceans and explored the many WOW moments within them. The children learned about different marine creatures, created imaginative “What am I?” riddles, and produced beautiful silhouette artwork, all while developing a deeper appreciation of the natural world around us.
Today, we enjoyed a calm and reflective moment by placing our feet in cool water trays in the reflection area—what a lovely way to unwind. We also created detailed fact files on marine creatures, showcasing all the new knowledge we have gained this week.
As a school community, we continue to support and encourage one another, shining our light through kindness, perseverance, and a love of learning.
We would also like to wish our Year 6 children the very best of luck for their transition days next week—we cannot wait to hear all about your experiences when you return. Blakemere will certainly feel very different without you!
