Delamere Weekly Blog - 26.06.26
Date: 26th Jun 2026 @ 3:12pm
Wow – what a hot week it has been! A huge well done to all of the children for coping so brilliantly with the super warm weather. We made sure to take lots of drink breaks, enjoy some time by the fans and take part in calming, chilled activities to keep everyone comfortable. We even had a visit to the foot spa, which was a real treat!
Although it has been very warm, it has also been an incredibly busy and exciting week.
Sports Day was fantastic – every single child took part and showed wonderful sportsmanship. There was lots of cheering, encouragement and team spirit throughout the day. The tug of war was definitely a highlight! Best of all, there were no tears or tantrums, just lots of fun and smiling faces. Fantastic work Delamere!
Blue Day was another lovely event, with some amazing blue outfits on display. The Agents of Change did themselves proud with their assembly – and a special mention to Kora, who was fabulous! Following this, we created some beautiful ocean-inspired artwork using chalks, smudging techniques and collage materials to form waves. Next week, we will be adding sea creatures to complete our masterpieces.
In English, we designed our own machines and recapped noun phrases. We also practised writing sentences using ‘when’. One of the highlights was going on an imaginary dragon ride, where we created noun phrases to describe everything we could see – it was lots of fun!
In Maths, we have continued our learning on measure, focusing on measuring and comparing different masses and volumes. The children have worked really hard – well done!
In Design and Technology, we began making our owl puppets by carefully decorating the front piece and following our designs. It is a slow process, so don’t worry if you haven’t finished yet – everyone will have their turn, and we will all have beautiful puppets by the end of the year.
In RE, we continued exploring humanism and in PE, we took part in a brilliant archery session which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
PE
Please don't forget to send PE kits back into school.
TTRS & Numbots
A big well done to this week’s TTRS Winners Nellie, Myah and Mollie and Numbots winner Myah – you are all working so hard, and we are very proud of you!
Uniform
Back to normal uniform next week as the weather is expected to settle.
🌲 Upcoming Trip to Delamere Forest 🌲
We are very excited and looking forward to our trip to Delamere Forest on Tuesday next week! During the visit, we will be exploring the changing seasons, learning about animal habitats, enjoying a lunchtime picnic and, of course, having lots of fun together.
We will be leaving school at 9:30am and returning to Over St. John’s at approximately 3:00pm.
What children should wear and bring:
- School jumper/cardigan with joggers or leggings
- A warm, waterproof coat
- A sunhat and sunscreen already applied (if the weather is hot and sunny)
- Comfortable, strong trainers, walking boots or wellington boots
- No skirts or shorts, please
What to bring:
- A packed lunch (if not ordering one from the school kitchen)
- A small backpack to carry their lunch (no lunch boxes/bags)
- Two drinks and a snack
Please note that children will most likely get a little muddy during the day, so we kindly ask that they do not come in new or expensive clothing or trainers.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to more fun and learning next week!
