Delamere's Class Blog - 11.09.26

What a wonderful second week we have had in Delamere Class! The children have settled brilliantly into their routines and have continued to impress us with their enthusiasm for learning.

 

This week, we introduced our “Let your light shine before others” jar, a special way of celebrating those moments when children let their inner light shine through their actions. It has been lovely to see the jar already filling up, including some wooden hearts awarded for particularly kind and helpful acts. The children have shown fantastic examples of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, both in the classroom and around school.

 

In Maths, we have been exploring place value, focusing on reading and writing numbers in words before representing numbers using tens and ones. The children worked hard using counters, tens and ones blocks and bead strings to deepen their understanding. We have seen some great mathematical thinking and teamwork throughout the week.

 

Our English learning has centred around our new story, Look Up. The children made some fantastic predictions about what might happen in the story before exploring the opening pages. We then created fabulous sentence strips describing what the main character, Rocket, could see when she looked down in her bedroom. We were so impressed with the children's ideas and descriptive language.

 

In RE, we continued our learning about Judaism, while in History we strengthened our understanding of chronology by exploring the reigns of the three Queens.

 

A huge congratulations to Ryan and Nala, who were voted in as our school councillors this week. We are incredibly proud of them and know they will do an amazing job representing their classmates.

 

Looking ahead, reading books will be coming home on Monday. We are excited to see how quickly our Delamere adventurers can travel around the world by reading and recording their reading four times each week.
