What another busy and enjoyable week we have had in Year Two! The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm, growing confidence and some wonderful teamwork throughout their learning.
English
In English, we continued to work on writing recounts about building a rocket. We acted out how we would build our rockets, which helped us to think carefully about the order of events. When writing, we focused on using the past tense and adding extra detail with noun phrases and expanded noun phrases. We are really beginning to make our writing more interesting for the reader!
Maths
In Maths, we are growing in confidence when identifying the value of digits in 2-digit numbers. We have also begun to partition numbers into tens and ones and write matching equations, such as 30 + 4 = 34. Well done, Year Two!
Art
In Art, we looked closely at pine cones, exploring their different shapes and textures. We then used our observations to create careful drawings in our sketchbooks. There were some really wonderful pieces, showing fantastic attention to detail!
History
This week, our History learning was all about Queen Victoria. We had a great time discovering lots of interesting facts about her. We sorted a variety of statements into true or false before using our new knowledge to create some super fact files.
Music
In Music, we moved on to our new unit called Toys. This week, our focus was on listening carefully and learning to keep a steady beat. Great listening, everyone!
PE
We saw some super teamwork and turn taking during our PE lessons this week. It was lovely to see the children being respectful of one another, working together and making safe choices.
Learning with Parents
It has been an absolute pleasure listening to and reading all the comments on Learning with Parents. Thank you for supporting the children's learning at home. It is wonderful to see Year Two proudly sharing what the reading that they have been doing.
Reading
Don't forget to read four times each week! Each time you achieve this, you will move another step along our Read Around the World Challenge. We can't wait to see how far everyone travels through their reading!
