Delamere's Weekly Blog - 03.07.26
Date: 3rd Jul 2026 @ 2:40pm
What a busy and exciting week we have had in Delamere Class! The weather has been much cooler, which was perfect timing for our exciting school trip. Throughout the week, the children have continued to let their light shine before others through their kindness, teamwork, resilience and enthusiasm for learning. We are so proud of them all!
Maths
This week, we completed our unit on Measure, learning how to measure and compare volume in litres. We then began our new unit on Shape, recognising, naming and sorting both 2D and 3D shapes.
The children worked incredibly hard and enjoyed some fantastic discussions. One of our favourite conversations was about why World Cup footballs are not cube-shaped! We loved hearing the children's ideas and reasoning as they explored the properties of different shapes.
English
In English, we wrote some fantastic diary entries describing our exciting dragon flights. The children impressed us with their super vocabulary and worked hard to join their ideas using the conjunctions because and when. We even managed to include some exclamation sentences to make our writing even more exciting. Super work, Delamere! We are making real progress with our writing skills.
Design and Technology
We are making great progress with our owl puppets in DT. This week, everyone added details to the front piece of their puppet and they are looking fantastic.
Next week, we will learn and use joining techniques to attach the front and back pieces together. Then we will finally be ready to try them out in our puppet show!
Delamere Forest Trip
Tuesday's trip to Delamere Forest was a huge success! We went on a Gruffalo hunt and were delighted to find all of the characters. Along the way, we spotted lots of different plants and creatures and enjoyed exploring the forest environment.
The children put their teamwork and creativity to the test by building dens, both big and small. We then enjoyed a delicious packed lunch in the sunshine before spending time on the amazing playground equipment.
The behaviour of every child was absolutely fabulous throughout the day. We were particularly impressed with their resilience during all of the walking and the way they looked after one another. We are so proud of Delamere Class, and it was wonderful to share such a special adventure together.
