Delamere's Weekly Blog - 06.03.26

What a brilliant week we’ve had in Delamere! The warmer weather has certainly lifted our spirits, and once again the children have amazed us with their enthusiasm, kindness and fabulous learning. You have so much to be proud of Delamere!

WORLD BOOK DAY!
We had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating World Book Day. Our whole-school theme this year was ‘Read the Rainbow,’ and the children looked incredible in their colourful rainbow outfits. Our focus book for the day was the beautiful, wordless picture book ‘Yellow Umbrella’. This book is extra special because it comes with its own soundtrack. We explored the story twice — once without music, and once with — and the children were mesmerised by how perfectly the music matched each page. It was magical watching their responses. We then used the book as inspiration to write expanded noun phrases and adverbs to describe different scenes. On Friday we published these on umbrella templates, and they look fantastic on our classroom wall. In the afternoon, we created our own reading rainbows, thinking about our favourite place to read, favourite person to read with, favourite book, favourite time to read, and our favourite characters. It was lovely to see how different we all are — yet how much we all love reading! We also enjoyed making colourful paper-plate umbrellas with stripes, spots, rainbows, and even some with ‘I love reading’ written on them.

Maths
We have continued developing our multiplication skills and have now begun working with the multiplication symbol. The children are doing brilliantly — keep it up, Delamere!

RE
This week in RE we learned all about the Bible and how it is split into different sections.

SWIMMING – Starting Next Week
We are very excited to begin our three weeks of daily swimming sessions next week. The children will swim every day, and it is always amazing to see how much progress they can make in such a short amount of time. Please ensure your child brings their swimming kit every day.

WELL DONE!
A huge WELL DONE to Kelsey, Myah and Kora for topping the Numbots leaderboard this week! And thank you to everyone for the wonderful reading happening at home. We love seeing the children enjoying their books and sharing their reading journeys with us.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we can’t wait for another week of fun and learning.
