What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 2!

In PE, we had a brilliant session practising our running skills and relay passing using bean bags. The children showed excellent teamwork, confidence and determination, really letting their lights shine. A huge well done to our PE stars – Coby, Myah and Zaylah for their super effort and positive attitudes!

In Maths, we continued our Multiplication and Division unit. The children were brilliant at solving calculations involving multiplying and dividing by 10. We then moved on to exploring the 5 times table, which we will continue practising next week.
In History, we worked hard as historians by comparing two historical events – The Great Fire of London and The Great Fire of Nantwich. The children shared some thoughtful ideas and a special shout out goes to Sophie for thinking even more deeply about what people might have learned from these fires.

In RE, we began our new unit on Humanism. We talked about how everyone is different and has their own talents and skills. We learned that Humanists celebrate people who achieve great things, particularly in Science. We also listened to the story of The Two Wolves, discussing how it teaches Humanists to “feed the good wolf” and let our lights shine through positive choices.

In English, we have been using our inference skills to write about the character George from our new book, The Dragon Machine. We then had lots of fun creating our own ‘Beware!’ posters for the cheeky dragons who visited our classroom uninvited! We worked hard to include words with the prefix –un, such as unfriendly, unsafe and unkind.

Well done to our Numbots winners this week – Zaylah, Myah and Leighton – for earning the highest number of coins. A big thank you as well to everyone who has read at home this week; your support really helps the children to let their lights shine.

Next week is a little different as some of us head off on our exciting Robinwood adventure on Wednesday, while the rest of the children begin our class merge. We are very excited to announce that our new merged class will be called Doakmere – a fabulous mix of Delamere and Oakmere!

Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to lots more fun and learning next week.
