Delamere's Weekly Blog - 16.10.26

What a wonderful week we have had in Team Delamere! The children have shown great enthusiasm in all areas of their learning and continue to impress us with their hard work and positive attitudes.
In English, we thought carefully about what Rocket might see in the night sky and used our imaginations to create some amazing noun phrases. We then used these ideas to write diary entries in role as Rocket. The children worked hard to include exciting vocabulary and really thought about how Rocket might have felt during his adventure.
In Maths, we have been focusing on finding one and ten more, and one and ten less than two-digit numbers. There have been some fantastic successes this week, with many children growing in confidence and accuracy. Next week, we will begin exploring how to place numbers correctly on number lines.
Our History lessons saw us travelling through time as we learned about the reigns of the three queens. We compared different aspects of life during each reign, including transport and fashion, and enjoyed some thoughtful discussions about how life has changed over time.
In Music, we continued learning about rhythm and listened to a song called Toybox. It was wonderful to hear the children discussing the song and sharing how it made them feel. We then created actions to match each section and enjoyed performing the song together.
We have also been incredibly impressed with the progress the children are making during handwriting sessions. This week we practised forming the letter g and are now encouraging the children to use these beautiful handwriting skills across all of their written work.
Throughout the week, the children have been letting their light shine before others by sharing ideas, listening respectfully and persevering when learning became challenging. They have shown what it means to be Ready, Respectful and Safe both in lessons and around school.
A huge congratulations to our Numbots Superstars this week: Noah, Harper C and Teddy. Well done to all of you! We would also like to congratulate the children who received their Reading Around the World awards today. We are so proud of your commitment to reading and look forward to celebrating many more achievements soon. Remember, recording your reading four times each week takes you one step further on your journey around the world!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another week full of fun, learning and success.
