Delamere's Weekly blog - 25.09.26

What another busy and brilliant week we have ​ children have shown fantastic enthusiasm, creativity and perseverance across all areas of their learning.

We continued exploring the wonderful book Look Up! and had great fun designing our very own rockets. The children then used their designs as inspiration for their writing, working hard to include as many of our mastery keys as possible. We were so impressed with their determination to make their sentences the very best they could be!

We have seen some super progress in recognising and using tens and ones. We then moved on to using part-whole models and linking these to equations to help us compose and decompose two-digit numbers. There was lots of fantastic mathematical thinking and perseverance!

 

In History, we discovered some fascinating facts about Queen Elizabeth I. The children enjoyed finding out more about her before creating their own fact files to show what they had learned. There was some brilliant historical thinking and lots of interesting facts shared!

 

In Art, we continued exploring the work of Alice Fox in more detail. We created artist profile pages to record what we had discovered about her and added important key vocabulary to our sketchbooks. The children are building a fantastic bank of artistic knowledge and vocabulary to support their learning.

In RE, we continued our learning about Judaism. The children used a variety of construction materials to design and create their very own synagogues, using what they had learned to help them with their creations. We loved seeing their creativity and careful thinking in action.

In Music, we explored the song School Trip. We experimented with using our bodies and voices to create different sounds. There was some great listening, turn-taking and teamwork. Great work, Delamere!

Our Class Collective Worship gave us lots to think about this week. We listened to the story Colour Your World with Kindness and reflected on how we could step through the door into our world and make a difference, adding brightness and colour through our actions and the way we treat others.

We then explored the very important story of The Good Samaritan, thinking carefully about compassion and what it means to help others. This will be a wonderful reminder of how we can “let our light shine before others” here in Delamere through kindness, compassion and the choices we make every day. There were lots of thoughtful reflections and discussions. Well done, Delamere!

 

Throughout the week, the children have continued to show what it means to be Ready to learn, Respectful of one another and Safe in their choices. We are incredibly proud of the perseverance, creativity and kindness we have seen.
