Delamere's Weekly Blog - 27.02.26

Date: 27th Feb 2026 @ 4:15pm

Welcome back to the second half of our Spring Term! Welcome back to our second half of the Spring Term - hopefully Spring will start springing soon and we will see some brighter days on their way! There’s certainly been no shortage of brightness in Delamere Class this week though. The children have returned full of enthusiasm and have had a wonderful week of learning.

English
This week in English we continued reading ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’, with a big focus on exploring new vocabulary. The children ended the week by creating their own night‑time poems – and they were fantastic! We were very impressed with the imaginative language they used.

Maths
We began our new unit on Multiplication and Division by looking at equal and unequal groups. The children practised representing equal groups using repeated addition. For example: 4 boxes with 2 donuts in each can be written as 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8. The children also tackled true or false statements and explained their thinking clearly—great mathematical reasoning all round!

Art
In Art we explored African animals and used our sketching skills to draw them. The children applied techniques such as close observation, cross‑hatching, shading and using pressure.

PE
This week’s PE sessions focused on team games. The class showed brilliant encouragement and sportsmanship throughout. Our stars of the session were Molly and Bonnie!

PSHCE
Our PSHCE lesson centred on water safety. We discussed the importance of recognising danger signs and understanding why we should not enter rivers, lakes or other open water. We also talked about our upcoming swimming lessons and how important it is to listen carefully and follow instructions.

History
In History we revisited our Knowledge Organisers to recall key facts about the Great Fire of London. We recapped the sequence of events and explored historical sources such as images, newspapers and diary entries.

Celebrations
A big WELL DONE to Kelsey, Sophie and Archie for topping the leader board this week! Our half‑term winners were Sophie, Leighton and Grace. Thank you also for all of the reading at home.

Gentle Reminder
Please could children avoid bringing toys or fidget items into school unless agreed with class teachers.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
