Hello Hatchmerians

Another great week with the children settling into well into school life.  We are getting into the swing of the school day and the children are responding well to the different lessons we are introducing.  Phonics is going well and the children are now onto their fourth letter and we will soon start building simple words.  Once we have started word building with s,a,t, and p we can start sending books home with words in for the children to read for those children who are ready.  We are doing very well with the reading, with twelve of the children moving up the reading ladder.  Please remember to read and comment four times a week in their reading journal-we love moving them up the ladder.

This week we have played lots of maths games and activities.  The children particularly enjoyed playing the skittles game and recording their score.  We have introduced them to the numicon which is a solid resource that helps the children count and combine numbers. Next week we are going to be looking at recognising 2d and 3d shapes. The children will be using the shapes to build models and pictures.

We have started to look for signs of autumn and the children used inks to mix autumn colours together to decorate autumn leaves.  Next week we will be doing a bit more work on autumn and using the book ‘The Leaf Man’ to inspire us.

Please see the plans attached to see what we are hoping to doing next week and the photographs of what we have done this week.

Have a great weekend.
