Hatchmere Class Blog 5.5.23

A right royal week in Hatchmere!

Hatchmere have been thinking hard about what they would like to know about bears. What would they ask the zookeeper if he came looking for a bear at our school. We have had some fantastic questions with the children using a question mark at the end of their question! The children have learned that if we are enquiring and would like to gain knowledge we use questions in order to gain an answer. Question marks are so important when we are exploring subjects we would like to know more about. Please look at the attached pictures to read some of Hatchmere’s thoughtful questions.

The children have really enjoyed their new sand pit and I think at one point the whole class were in there having fun.  Many thanks to Mrs. Teece son and Mrs. McLaughlins husband who kindly volunteered to come along and move ten ton of sand. I am also very grateful to the amazing people who raised the money to help us rebuild our sand pit after it was vandalized last year.  We are currently looking for o wooden playhouse and if anyone can help us please come and talk to Mrs Kelly or Mrs Teece.

Our mini athletes have continued on with their practicing of skipping, riding bikes and ball skills. All children have seen progress in their development both physically and mentally. They are learning to listen closely to instructions to improve their abilities. Lots of the children have expressed that they are feeling proud of themselves, and we are very proud of them too! Perseverance increases resilience and ensures our children are ready and willing to take on tricky tasks confidently.

This week has seen the children preparing for the ‘big day’. Hatchmere have been discussing and exploring different aspects of the monarchy. They have also made crowns to wear at our Coronation Lunch and have learnt a new song to celebrate King Charles III ascendance to the throne.  The whole school took part in a Coronation Art Day based on the invitation to the coronation.   This work is displayed in the church and you are more than welcome to go along and have a look.  Please see the Mrs Snowdons Blog for more detail.  In Hatchmere we went for a spring walk and collected some flowers and plants as we went.  We then used these plants to print on fabric with.

Have a great weekend and we will see you on Tuesday.
