Hello from tropical Hatchmere!

The children have written their Supertato re-telling this week and I am so proud of them! They used their independence in work to gather the things they need to support their writing, they planned, wrote then re-read their work. Some children even edited when they spotted a mistake. Amazing stuff Hatchmere.

I am sure you have all heard about the practical joke Hatchmere played on the school this Thursday! The children made lots and lots of naughty peas which ‘pea’d’ all over the school, including the Headteachers Office! There were knowing smiles and sniggers as the whole school was buzzing and trying to figure out what was going on. Even Mrs Snowdon was stumped! The game was up by lunchtime as Hatchmere let everybody know that they had played a ‘pea prank’.

We have had so much fun with our maths learning this week. We have created a watercoloured beach scene with 2D shapes to create a sandcastle and boat. The children will now work together to create the 3D counterpart to this task...watch this space!

Our creative area has been extremely busy the last few weeks as the children draw, use collage, create cards, junk model, write letters…the list goes on and on. Whilst the children are having so much fun, they are using their social skills, spatial awareness, fine motor control, organisational skills, developing creative talent…again, the list goes on and on.

The paddling pool party was amazing, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the children and Miss Dyson and I! Phew, it was so nice to paddle in the water to cool down. The plunge pool was the most popular as the children thoroughly enjoyed jumping in and causing a big splash. The quiet pool was very relaxing and an opportunity for some children to enjoy some quieter water fun. Our Ice Pops went down a treat and we had yet another ‘best day ever’ comment. Memories have certainly been made!

Hatchmere have truly let their light shine before others by showing independence and perseverance in their Supertato writing, spreading joy and laughter through their playful “pea prank” across the school, and demonstrating kindness and teamwork as they collaborated creatively in their learning and play.

This weekend is going to be a scorcher! Please take care of yourselves, lather on the sunscreen, wear your hats and drink plenty of water.
