Hatchmere's Class Blog 11.9.26

I am so proud of our little Hatchmerians! We have had a super week! 

The children are becoming very confident with their morning routine and are settled and onto their first learning task (creating with playdough – developing fine motor skills and communication and language) quite quickly. As a result, I will begin to prepare the whole class to attend Collective Worship by the end of the next week. Collective Worship begins at 8.50am each morning (except Thursdays which is singing assembly) in the school hall with the rest of the school. Thank you for ensuring your child has arrived for 8.35am as this gives them ample time to organise their things independently, say hello to teachers and friends and then calmly line up ready for our assembly. The register is taken at 8.45am. 

We took part in our first ‘official’ PE session! We met Harry our cricket coach who showed us some cricket basics. You can see from the photo’s below that we all had a great time! We can’t wait for next week’s lesson. 

Hatchmere have spent lots of time in our Outdoor Classroom, learning about all the different areas and how to use them. I think the mud kitchen was a firm favourite! The children thoroughly enjoyed all the concoctions from stews to ‘yummy’ drinks. 

Hatchmere have exercised their democratic right to vote and each child voted for what to transform the Playhouse in our Outside Classroom into. Ask your child what the result of their vote was. 

Next week the children will begin their adult led phonics and handwriting sessions. 

Words and phrases you may hear at home in the next few weeks: 

Leader – each child has a turn in being the ‘Leader’. This includes being at the front of the line, taking the register down to the main school and helping the adults in the classroom. It is a very important job! 

Helper – The helper ‘helps’ the leader. 

Crocodile fingers – The position of the fingers on a pencil to promote a comfortable grip. 

Reading finger – one finger used to point underneath a sound or each sound in a word, always starting at the initial (first) sound. 

Passwords – words to read before each transition around the classroom, linked to high frequency/common exception words and phonically decodable words in line with their learning.
