Hatchmere's Class Blog 15.3.24

Date: 15th Mar 2024 @ 2:04pm

Hello Hatchmere,

We have had another super learning week in our classroom.

In Literacy the children have felt cross that the girls took the Bog Baby out of his natural habitat. Hatchmere have role-played what they might say to the girls if they were the Bog Baby. They wrote their thoughts down using the sounds that they know. We have had some fabulous responses; 'I am not a toy', 'put me back in my habitat', 'You are making me sick'. Wonderful work Hatchmere.

The children had such an amazing experience at Winsford Library on Wednesday. We had a story, we learnt about all of the fabulous free events the Library holds and were able to explore the children's sections and discover some books from authors we were familiar with. Did you know that over the Easter Holidays the Library are holding a toy sleepover!? Ive heard that toys get up to all sorts of magical adventures in Libraries at night time. Perhaps your child would like their toy to take part? The library is free for all to join and you can check out up to 20 books at a time. Children who fetch their Library card into school to share with the class get 20 raffle tickets!

In Drawing Club the children have been invited to create their own mode of transport to take part in the Wacky Races. They described their vehicle beautifully alongside explaining its special racing skill.

This week in maths Hatchmere have continued to embed the skill of '5 and a bit'. They have completed a Part Part Whole model of the numbers 7 and 8. We have played Subitising Bingo with numbers up to 10 and shown off our number line skills using numicon. We have fabulous Mathematicians in our Recepton classroom.

Today!!...what a day it was. It was lovely to have our fab 4 who made it into school for our afternoon session. We had lots of fun!
