Hatchmere's Class Blog 17.3.23

Date: 17th Mar 2023 @ 3:04pm

After a gloomy start to the week we have ended it on a sunny high!

The pond-dipping expedition was a great success. We found lots of little mini-beasts and kept our beady eyes open for frogs. We found water snails, diving beetles, pond-skaters and lots of very small shrimps. We looked at them closely and drew some detailed pictures when we arrived back at school. We are currently painting them to put on our Spring display within the classroom.

In literacy this week the children have been writing about their adventure to the pond! They have all wrote a description of what creatures were discovered in its murky depths. Alas, no magical creatures were found this time…

Our Mathematics focus this week has been to explore doubles. Hatchmere have had lots of small doubling challenges this week and have enjoyed showing off their fabulous number skills. Ask them to show you a double on their fingers. Can they double the amount of biscuits they have? Can they spot any doubles in your home?

Have you heard all about our Bog Baby creations? The children have been busy twisting, cutting, pushing and have formed their very own bog babies. They are very cute.
