We have been busy, busy, busy…
The children have really enjoyed our Drawing Club book this week. We're Going On a Bear Hunt is obviously an old favourite, there were a couple of children that seemed to know it word for word! We have read it, sang it and acted it out. We have even created our own obstacle course and used positional language in our instructions to friends. The children have been learning how to draw a bear and they have written some super describing words using the sounds they know.
Passwords have now been introduced during transition times. Hatchmere now need to sound out and blend to read a CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) word or a CEW (common exception word) at various points in the day. The children are loving this activity and are very quick to remind me if I forget about it.
Our Salon has opened in the Outside Classroom and the children have had so much fun pampering each other. We have appointment cards, phrases to use and some excellent products on display. Please call the Hathcmere Hotline to book an appointment.
In Maths this week we have been comparing quantities and using the stem sentence of __ has more than __ and __ has fewer than__. We have been playing some group counting and number recognition games and I am really seeing progress in their subitising skills. Fantastic work Hatchmere!
