Hatchmere's Class Blog 18.9.26

Hello Hatchmerians. 

I’m sure you have heard all about the different lessons the children have taken part in. We have begun our handwriting tasks (remember those crocodile fingers!) and started our Monster Phonics lessons and have even had a few Maths lessons…we have had lots to do! The children are learning to become independent in preparation for their learning (gathering resources and organising their learning area), they are like a well-oiled machine in their phonics lessons already. I am so proud of them! 

During our maths lesson the children learned about subitising (knowing how many in a small group without counting). We played a really fun subitising game alongside our numicon. The children were so surprised that they knew how many dots were on my cards without even counting and were then able to show me the corresponding numicon. Super job Hatchmere. 

Our artists have been hard at work creating beautifully painted animals to display in our art gallery. They have spent time exploring the animal, deciding on colours and producing some exceptional pieces that really brighten up our classroom 

Collective Worship was a huge hit with the children. They joined the whole school in the hall and showed everyone just how fantastic they are at listening and singing. Mrs Snowdon opened up our golden tin and picked out a raffle ticket, the child’s name that was on the back won a prize from our class prize box. We clapped and congratulated our friend. The children are rewarded with raffle tickets for various reasons, most often listening carefully to instructions, being kind, and going over and above in their actions. I predict lots more raffle tickets in our tin next week! 

Hatchmere have loved our Wake and Shake dance over the last couple of weeks, but alas, it is time for a new one. I have attached the link to ‘Superman’ please play it for your child to show you their dance moves, you could even get the whole family involved. We would love to see pictures to share with the class. 

**A small reminder that school reading books are changed each Monday. Please ensure your child has their reading folder in their bookbag so we can support the changing of their wordless book.

This week, the children in Hatchmere have let their light shine before others by showing kindness to their friends, listening and singing beautifully during Collective Worship, and demonstrating independence and responsibility as they prepared for their learning and phonics activities.
