Hatchmere's Class Blog 20.9.24

Hello Hatchmerians.
I’m sure you have heard all about the different lessons that the children take part in in Reception this week. From phonics, to drawing club, maths and understanding of the world…we have had lots to do!
We have continued our focus of emotions for this week’s Drawing Club. The children have been learning about lots of different kinds of emotions and created a colour monster of their very own. They decided what emotion they would be and picked their own colour. You see from the pictures below that they have done a super job.
Some children were able to visit our Education Library Bus this week. They picked out some special books to share with their friends in class. We love our ELS bus and feel so lucky to have it visit us each term.
During our maths lesson the children learned what subitising meant (knowing how many without counting). We played a really fun subitising game and the children were so surprised that they knew how many dots were on my cards without even counting. Super job Hatchmere.
Collective Worship and singing assembly have been a huge hit with the children. They have been joining the whole school in the hall and showing everyone just how fantastic they are listening and singing. Everyone has been very impressed by them.
We had a special treat this week with 2 children from Delamere coming to Hatchmere to read us a story! The children sat beautifully and listened carefully to Hairy McLary. We have invited the 2 children back to read us a story anytime.
Thank you to everyone for using our online reading diary, I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading everyone’s comments. Remember, if 4 instances of reading a week are recorded (this will be checked each Monday and your child's book changed) then your child gets a star on our school reading ladder. Each step up the ladder goes towards them earning a Bronze reading badge, that they can proudly display on their uniform.
Enjoy your weekend,
Mrs Teece
