Hatchmere's Class Blog 2.2.24

Date: 2nd Feb 2024 @ 8:40am

Hello Hatchmerian families,

You may have heard that this week we have been on a visit to London. The children were able to walk around all of the popular landmarks and discuss where they may like to visit. They then created a story map of their journey through our Capital City explaining where they would like to visit first, second, next, after that, and last. Their story maps will support the children to create an independent piece of writing next week. Great work Hatchmere.

We have become experts in The Transport Song. We know all of the actions and are ready to move on to something new! Here is the link to The Tansport Song so that you may enjoy it with your child: The Transport Song

In Maths this week our Aliens have been flying around the world and helping us to look at number bonds. We have also explored the numbers 6 and 7 and found that they are ‘5 and a little bit’. The children have been so smart in figuring out that 6 and 7 have their own number bonds too. Hatchmere really enjoy being number detectives and finding hidden numbers in the whole. Can they explain to you what ‘part, part, whole’ means? Can they show you the corresponding actions?

We have some fabulous transport pictures to go on display in our classroom. We have looked carefully at different types of transport and what shapes we can see in their design that will support us to draw them. Next week we will begin using watercolours to paint them, I can’t wait to see how they turn out.

Can I please remind our families that our school gates open at 8.35 am so the children may come into school, organise their things and have some time to settle down/chat to teachers and friends. This means that the children are then ready to start their day calmly and ready to learn.

Enjoy your weekend.
