Hatchmere's Class Blog 22.3.24

Date: 22nd Mar 2024 @ 4:29pm

Hello Hatchmerians,

Hatchmere, once again, have the highest attendance out of all the classes in the school this week….can we end the term victorious?? Let’s see.

In Drawing Club the children have read the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs. The children have turned on their ‘imagination stations’ and created their own trap for the Big Bad Wolf. We have had some super ideas.

Literacy this week has focused on the re-telling of the Bog Baby story and creating a story map to support our writing. We are incredibly proud of the progress the children have made with their writing and love to see how proud they are of themselves! They really enjoy showing off their work to staff and friends. Well done Hatchmere.

A few children have brought in their library cards to share with the class. We have heard all about the books that they have taken out and are currently reading: football books, The Way Back Home, How to Care for Guinea Pigs, books about wild animals and even one about a Unicorn that eats cake! I have also been so impressed that the children have been telling us that they have chosen books based on familiar authors (Julia Donaldson, Oliver Jeffers, Eric Carle). Each child that brings their library card to school gets to present it to the whole class, have questions asked from their classmates and receives 20 raffle tickets. The Winsford Library is free to join and members can borrow up to 20 books at a time. They also put on free events for the children throughout the holidays…a library card is worth its weight in gold!

Hatchmere have had 2 fabulous PE lessons this week. The pictures below show the children learning how to play ‘Stuck in the Mud’ and developing their bike and scooter skills. They have also been practicing their skills with a ball.

Our new playhouse is up and running! A big thank you to Mr and Mstr Teece who gave up their Saturday to come into school and build it for us. The children had lots of ideas about what they would like this space to be (library, house, shop, café) so we used our British Value of Democracy to come to a decision. The overall vote was for a shop. Mrs Hodge has been working hard to develop the space and has spent some time with the class modelling it’s use. We will have another vote in the new term.

Maths this week has seen the children become doubling masters! Ask your child to explain to you what a double is. Can they show you on their fingers or can they find a double in their environment? We have also been exploring patterns and have created our own pattern using 2 of our chosen colours.

Enjoy your weekend.
