Hatchmere's Class Blog 27.3.26

Hello Hatchmerians,
This week, in literacy, the children have worked hard to independently re-tell the story of the The Bog Baby. Lots of children have used the words first, second, next, then, after and last in their writing which is so impressive! I have included some excellent examples in the photos below. Well done Hatchmere!
Drawing Club has seen the children create their own ‘Odd Egg’ with a special creature inside. They will be using their own ‘cracked’ Odd Eggs as the stimulus to independently write a describing sentence next week.
We have had super-duper maths sessions and activities this week. The children have learned about all the different ways we can group objects/people/animals: colour, legs, jumpers, bobbles, glasses, species. There are so many different groupings to explore, we have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our artists have been hard at work on their whole class project (based on our Christian Value of ‘Friendship’) that is to be displayed in our school hall. It looks incredibly beautiful and all the children are very proud of it. They can each point out a little bit of themselves within it.
Our potting bench and ‘Bird and Bug’ areas have been hard at work this week. The children thoroughly enjoy becoming nature detectives and exploring our Outside Classroom and field area for local wildlife. Hatchmere are also adding their own flower bed and are learning how to be responsible for correctly potting/planting/caring for our seeds and plants. Inspired by one of our own Hatchmerians the children have made their own bird feeders to take home.
Our Wake and Shake dances have been chosen by the class leaders this week. I have attached the dances we have used so far in Hatchmere below. Why not give them a go as family.
This week Hatchmere have let their light shine by showing courage and independence in their writing, using their God‑given creativity and caring for God’s creations.
