Welcome back Hatchmerians!
This week our class are featured in the Northwich and Winsford Guardian. Please pick up a copy from any local news retailer and you will find us in their special pull-out supplement.
We are now on our 2nd Half Term and have 6 weeks until our December finish (notice, no C word yet). This is certainly the most action packed half term and that is without adding learning into the mix.
This week the children have been focussed on what Remembrance Day is and how we can show respect, reflection and thanks to our Armed Forces and Support Services. We read Peace Lily by Hilary Robinson to support our learning on the subject. As part of our Drawing Club task we came up with lots of different words to describe those that protect our country. We sounded these words out (segmented) then wrote them down. I have added the children’s work in our pictures below. Can your child spot theirs?
Hatchmere are becoming experts in creating a numicon numberline from 1-5 and relating a numeral to the matching numicon. We have made up potions in the outside classroom to match with capacity related words – Full, empty, nearly full, nearly empty and half full and in our class water tray we have been using tubes of differing sizes to describe the meaning of most and least.
The class have voted this week to change our outside playhouse. The children gave their ideas and the class each voted for which option was their favourite. So, next week, our playhouse will turn into a Hospital! Please come and see us with any injuries or illnesses and our medical team will be happy to help you.
