Hatchmere's Class Blog 9.10.26
Date: 8th Oct 2026 @ 5:35pm
I am happy to report that following my message home about how the children have been letting their light shine, the rest of the week has followed this lovely trend. We have talked about showing God who we are. An artist, a writer, a singer, a great friend, an athlete, a dancer etc. Today, the children showed God that they were brave and courageous as most of the class had their flu vaccinations. Some children were feeling a little apprehensive, but we each took a stuffed creature with us and kept our eyes on the prize...2 stickers!
The nurses who came to deliver the vaccinations reported to Mrs Snowdon how impressed they were with our children's beautiful manners and positive attitude. Mrs Snowdon came to see us personally to share the news and to thank us for representing ourselves and the school so positively.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Drawing Club book this week. Farmer Duck by Martin Wadell got us thinking about what is grown on farms from animals to fruit and vegetables. Hatchmere drew 2 of their favourite fruit and veg in their books and chatted with their friends about their likes and dislikes.
The children have been taking some risks this week during our gross motor activities. We used the larger blocks to build some ramps and balance beams to help us focus our attention on co-ordination whilst on the balance bikes. Again, we challenged ourselves to have a go and try! It was a great activity and once again we could hear the children cheering and congratulating each other.
Our Outside classroom has been a hub of activity this week. Hatchmere have been using scarves to help role play popular fairytales and some children have been getting in their cars and driving to McDonalds, the beach, Asda and going on holiday! Some scientists have been hard at work in one of our tuff trays, using water to create patterns, exploring cause and effect and observing change. The children suggested getting our ribbons and Jasper the Jellyfish (our kite) out again as the wind picked up, we love to see how the weather can be used in our play and learning.
This week, Hatchmere have let their light shine before others by showing bravery and courage during their flu vaccinations, demonstrating beautiful manners and a positive attitude that made our school proud, and encouraging their friends as they took risks and challenged themselves in their outdoor learning activities.
