A very busy 4 day week in Hatchmere!
The children have used their describing skills to describe character in the whole class focus text of ‘The Gigantosaurus’. We discussed how Bonehead was treating his friends and were none too happy about it! They easily identified that Bonehead tricked and lied to his friends. They did not think he was being kind at all. Luckily, in Hatchmere, our class Christian value is ‘friendship’ and we could explain how to be a good friend. Hopefully, Bonehead will listen.
Our healthy eating focus will continue into next week. We have been exploring our snacks and sorting them into healthy and non-healthy snacks. The children were confidently chatting to each other about their knowledge of healthy eating as they sorted their snacks out. We have our Healthy Eating chart displayed in the classroom and we want our healthy snack column to continue to rise! We can do it Hatchmere.
On Tuesday, Hatchmere had their very first whole class picture taken. They behaved impeccably and looked so smart. We then moved on to some small group photo’s and let me tell you…gorgeous is an understatement. I am really looking forward to seeing them. You will find the code and website that you need to access to view/buy on the small card they brought home. It may take a few days for them to be uploaded.
Hatchmere have been exploring number bonds to 5. They can use lots of different ways to do this: subitising, number-bond dancing, fingers, numicon, multi-link and by recording the corresponding written numerals. We have also been practicing our 1:1 counting of numbers up to and including 20. The children have been using their ‘marking off’ skill to complete their task.
A group of children got together this week to build their large scale dinosaur. We discussed shape, structure and texture during it's desgin and creation. The pictures are below, can your child tell you what the name is of the Dinosaur they built?
Mr Burgess, our P.E coach has been so impressed with the children’s athletic abilities. They have been working hard in their lessons to prepare themselves for some winning performances on Sports Day. Hatchmere have also linked their P.E lessons as a way to keep the bodies and their brains healthy.
This week Hatchmere have let their light shine before others by showing kindness and friendship to one another, making healthy choices to care for their bodies, and working with confidence and teamwork in their learning and P.E., always trying their very best.
I think you will agree that our Hatchmerians have worked incredibly hard this week…hopefully they will have a lie in for you tomorrow!
