After the long weekend, it has been lovely to see the children back in school, settling quickly and showing positive attitudes as they continue to let their light shine through their learning.

English – Writing Our Own Leaflets

In English, the children are now bringing together everything they have learned to write their own leaflets about coral reefsThey have been carefully applying the features we studied, such as clear organisation, engaging language, and informative content.

The children are particularly excited that their finished leaflets will hopefully be displayed in time for Parent Consultations. They are taking great pride in their work and will love seeing all their effort and creativity come together in a final piece.

Maths – Moving On to Decimals

In Maths, we have now finished our shape unit. The children completed some Quizzes to check and secure their understanding, showing how much progress, they have made.

We are now moving on to a new topic: decimals. The children are approaching this with confidence and curiosity, ready to build on their place value knowledge.

Science – Comparing Life Cycles

Because it has been a shorter week, we have had limited time for Science. However, the children will be using this time to look at how to store and compare data, using Venn diagrams and tables. They will compare the life cycles of birds and mammals, linking back to what they have already learned. This will help them organise information clearly and spot similarities and differences between different animals.

PSHE – The Working World and Enterprise

In PSHE, we have started exploring the working world, with a focus on Enterprise. The children are considering different ways people can save and make money, as well as why these skills are important for the future. They shared thoughtful ideas and listened respectfully to one another, showing maturity and teamwork as they explored reallife concepts together.

History – Vikings to Britian
This week in History, we have been learning about why the Vikings chose to settle in Britain, including the search for good farmland and new opportunities. The children explored how these choices changed the way people lived and worked, helping communities to grow and develop over time. It has been wonderful to see the children share their ideas with growing confidence.

RE – Psalm 8
In RE, we have been reflecting on Psalm 8 and what it teaches Christians about caring for the world around us. The children enjoyed discussing how we can take responsibility and show kindness through the choices we make each day. It has been lovely to see them thinking about how letting their light shine can have a positive impact on others and the world.

PE - Dance
In PE, we have continued developing our breakdancing skills and learning a range of exciting new moves. The children have worked brilliantly in groups, supporting one another as they practise and improve their routines. We are so proud of how creatively they are expressing themselves and confidently sharing their performances.

Quick HomeLearning Reminders

A few regular routines make a big difference to your child’s learning.

📚 Reading

Please aim for four reading sessions each week. Short, relaxed reads are perfect.

✖️ Times Tables

Regular timestable practice helps build confidence. A few minutes each day works well.

✏️ Spellings

Practicing the spellings and meanings at home really supports them in the classroom.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Skelley and Miss Reid
