What an exciting and busy week we’ve had in Sandymere!

Maths – Subtraction Within 20

This week we have been practising subtraction within 20, using number lines and bar models to help us understand the steps clearly. The children have become brilliant maths detectives—jumping backwards on number lines and using bar models to see the whole, the parts, and the missing pieces. We are so proud of how confident they are becoming!

✏️ English – Helping the Faithful Friends

Our Curious Quest story took a dramatic turn! The mischievous Greap whisked the Faithful Friends away in a helicopter, and they are now dangling from a rope—oh no!
To rescue them, the children have been working hard to write amazing sentences that use capital letters, full stops, and conjunctions. We hope our super writing will impress the Greap enough to release our friends…
We’ll have to wait until Monday to find out what happens next!

🎨 Art – Exploring Paul Klee

In Art, we continued learning about watercolours and the artist Paul Klee. The children experimented with watercolours, exploring soft washes, bright tones, and shapes inspired by Klee’s playful style. Their artwork is full of colour and creativity—just like Klee himself!

🐾 Science – Animal Diets and Sorting

During Science we looked closely at animal diets, sorting animals into groups such as herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. The children enjoyed discussing what different animals like to eat and how this helps them survive. Lots of brilliant scientific thinking!

🌤️ A Note From Us

As the weather is getting warmer, children are taking off their cardigans and jumpers more often. Please make sure all items are clearly named so we can reunite them with their owners quickly.

Have a wonderful weekend!
