🌼 Welcome Back Sandymere! 🌼

Welcome back after the Easter break! We hope you all had a lovely holiday and enjoyed some time with family and friends. We have had a great first week back, made even better by the beautiful sunny weather, which has allowed us to spend lots of time learning outside.

Science
In Science, we took our learning outdoors to explore the human body. The children worked with a partner to draw around a friend and then carefully identified and labelled different body parts. It was wonderful to see such teamwork and enthusiasm!

English
In English, we have been enjoying the poem There’s No Such Thing as Monsters. We loved finding rhyming words and then using our imaginations to create our own monsters, thinking about what they might get up to if they visited our classroom. There were some very creative (and funny!) ideas.

Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about numbers to 50. This has been a little tricky for some of us, so any extra practice at home would be really helpful. Please practise counting forwards and backwards within 50, and writing numbers carefully, remembering that the tens digit comes first, followed by the ones.

PE
During PE, we have been focusing on athletics and working on improving our reaction times when running. The children have shown great effort and energy.

Phonics
In Phonics, we have been revisiting all the split vowel phonemes. Please keep an eye out for these when reading at home together and talk about them as you spot them.

PSHE
In PSHE, we have been learning about emotions and feelings, and how these can show themselves in our bodies. The children shared some thoughtful ideas and listened kindly to one another.

It has been a fantastic start to the term and we are very proud of how well the children have settled back into school routines. We hope you all have a lovely, relaxing weekend and enjoy the sunshine! 🌞
